Burbank Has New Mayor

City Council members on Tuesday night unanimously appointed a mayor and vice mayor after the abrupt resignation of two-term Mayor Bob Kramer.
David Laurell, who had been vice mayor, became the foothill community’s new mayor, and Councilwoman Stacey Murphy was chosen vice mayor.
The city has set March 13 as the deadline to apply for Kramer’s vacant council seat.
The council is expected to interview and appoint his successor on March 19.
Kramer, whose term would have expired in 2003, resigned last week to become Burbank’s full-time ombudsman. City Manager Bud Ovrom appointed Kramer to the job.
