Site of Child’s Drowning Is Temporarily Closed

The state Department of Social Services, which licenses day-care centers, has temporarily shut down a North Hills facility where a toddler was found in a pond and died the next day, authorities said.
Omolabake Martinez, the licensed owner of the Martinez Family Child Care Home, may appeal the temporary suspension, said John Gordon, a spokesman for the department.
