Additional Suits Filed Over Hillside Collapse
Five residents who sued after their homes were threatened or damaged by a hillside collapse during El Nino storms in 1998 have filed two additional lawsuits against both the city and the developer of a 256-acre residential project at Pacific Point.
One lawsuit alleges that the project has been abandoned by SunCal Cos. of Anaheim and asks that the developer’s $6.34-million surety bond be used to stabilize the Meredith Canyon hillside.
The other suit seeks an injunction to prevent the city from spending public funds to process applications or to issue any other permits for Pacific Point.
