President’s Party Reelects Leader
The party that propelled Vicente Fox into Mexico’s presidency has reelected its leader--who quickly vowed to improve a troubled relationship with Fox himself.
Luis Felipe Bravo Mena said his National Action Party and Fox are trying “to walk much more closely together.”
The party’s National Council voted Saturday to reelect Bravo Mena over Sen. Carlos Medina Plascencia, who was widely seen as Fox’s preference. On Sunday, it elected a new Executive Committee that included a figure close to Fox, apparently in an effort to smooth ties.
