Smooth Hubble Mission Pleases Shuttle Crew
With the Hubble Space Telescope on its way to new discoveries and their own flight drawing to a close, Columbia’s astronauts said they’re thrilled but surprised at how well all of their repairs went.
“We had a very ambitious mission in front of us,” said space shuttle pilot Duane Carey, “and I admit that I had my doubts as to whether we could safely accomplish everything we had on our plate.”
All that remained for the seven astronauts, besides packing, was Tuesday morning’s landing.
Columbia’s astronauts gave Hubble $172 million worth of new equipment last week.
