Compuware Corp. filed a lawsuit claiming that IBM Corp. is stealing Compuware’s software and forcing customers to buy IBM products. Compuware, which makes software for managing mainframe computers, accused IBM of copyright infringement and violations of federal antitrust laws. IBM is stealing Compuware’s copyrighted software products for IBM’s File Manager and Fault Analyzer programs, and including a user manual with “numerous passages that are nearly verbatim copies of Compuware manuals,” the suit contends. Compuware shares fell 60 cents to $12.17 on Nasdaq. Shares of IBM rose $3.26 to $108.50 on the NYSE.
