Board Asks TV Network to Ban Hard Liquor Ads

The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 0 this week to send a letter to NBC-TV and San Luis Obispo affiliate KSBY-TV requesting that they not run ads for distilled spirits.
In December, NBC announced plans to run such ads after 9 p.m., breaking a 50-year self-imposed ban on that kind of advertising. The first ad appeared on Dec. 15.
