County Supervisors to Hold Hearing on Access
In response to the controversy over secret votes and meetings, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday scheduled a public discussion next month to air out and attempt to address mounting complaints about public access.
On the motion of Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, the board will hear from critics on April2.
The controversy arose earlier this month, when documents revealed that the board took a secret vote to kill an initiative to raise the wages of home health-care aides and the meetings and telephone calls that followed. First Amendment advocates say the private meetings and calls were illegal.
