Robotic Vision in SEC Accounting Probe

Robotic Vision Systems Inc., a maker of semiconductor inspection equipment, said the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating accounting practices that led to a restatement of earnings last May.

Robotic Vision restated results for its fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2000, and the quarter ended Dec. 31 of that year, to correct accounting errors involving recognition of revenue at its Acuity CiMatrix division, the Canton, Mass.-based company said in a May 21 statement.

The restatement resulted from a review by Robotic Vision’s audit committee, outside counsel and auditors. New procedures and other safeguards were implemented at that time, the company said.
