Airlines continue to add service as travel picks up after the fall-winter slump. Among the additions:

* Air Jamaica this month increased its LAX-Montego Bay nonstop service from four to five flights per week and will go daily June 20. “Our passenger loads have been steadily increasing,” said Allen Chastanet, vice president of marketing and sales. The airline said it offers the only nonstop service between the West Coast and the Caribbean.

* Hawaiian Airlines is also expanding service from the West Coast. On June 7 it will begin nonstop flights to Honolulu from Ontario, Calif., and Sacramento. It also plans new nonstop service to Maui from LAX and San Francisco starting June 15.

* American Airlines plans a new daily round trip between LAX and Kauai starting June 15. United also flies the route nonstop.

* America West has installed self-service check-in kiosks at LAX and John Wayne airport in Orange County. (The Phoenix and Tucson airports got the kiosks last year.) Customers can upgrade to first class (if available) and select or change a seat assignment, besides checking in.
