Lebed Plane Crash Blamed on Power Line
RUSSIA
Russian President Vladimir V. Putin and top dignitaries paid their respects to famed governor and onetime presidential hopeful Alexander I. Lebed, killed in a helicopter crash blamed on thick fog hiding a frost-covered power line.
Emergency Situations Minister Sergei K. Shoigu dismissed speculation that terrorists may have been behind the crash Sunday, revealing that the pilot’s last words on the data recorder were, “Power line! Power line!”
