Officer Followed Policy in Shooting, Report Says
A police officer who shot a knife-wielding girl last weekend acted within department policy, according to a preliminary administrative report released Wednesday.
Ventura Officer Kristin Rupp, 23, shot the 14-year-old Sunday night when the girl approached the officer after refusing to put down the knife.
The girl, who authorities will not name because of her age, remained in stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center on Wednesday. She will be sent to a psychiatric facility upon release.
The Police Department’s final report on the shooting will be completed in two weeks.
