Bill Gates Announces Plan to Nourish Children
UNITED NATIONS
Bill Gates unveiled a $70-million plan to add vitamins to basic foods but said governments still need to help the world’s children.
Bankrolled by $50 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with support from the U.S. and Canadian governments along with corporations such as Procter & Gamble, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition is the kind of public-private partnership the U.N. has championed.
Gates, a founder of Microsoft , said this contribution does not absolve governments of responsibility to improve children’s lives.
