Davis’ Fund-Raising ‘A Runaway Truck’

Share

Re Gov. Gray Davis’ request for $1million from the California Teachers Assn. (“Davis Used Capitol to Seek Funds, Union Says,” May 12): This man is like a runaway truck. He wants to bury himself in dollars. Yet he will always deny a contribution to his reelection campaign has any influence on his decisions. Yes, like the prison guards’ pay raises! We’re not that stupid. Come on, Bill Simon; this should motivate you to make yourself known.

Let me get this straight. Your front-page headline says that Davis used the Capitol to seek campaign funds. Then on Page 24 you say, “State law ... does not prevent ... asking for money on state property.”

Question: So the problem is? The article is about? Answer: The Times’ front page is going off half-cocked. Noise, fluster, static and no facts. Is there an editor in the house?
