Parents Need Guidance

Share

I attended a 7 p.m. Saturday performance of “Spider-Man” at our local Regal Cinema in Palos Verdes. Although the special effects made the movie a worthwhile experience, the fact that many parents brought their small children detracted greatly from the enjoyment I would have expected.

Several of the children were crying and afraid of the fight scenes, and one little kid actually yelled out “Stop it!” when Spider-Man was getting beaten up for the third or forth time.

Having raised four kids myself and being a real movie buff, I have spent plenty of time in dark movie theaters, but I always respected the rights of others by adhering to the PG-13 rating.

By exposing their children to this type of violence, parents are actually giving their approval to it and, I believe, are not acting responsibly as parents.
