President Gets Plans for Troop Smallpox Vaccines

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld presented recommendations on the possible inoculation of U.S. troops against smallpox to President Bush, the White House said.

“This has been something that has been under review,” spokesman Scott McClellan said. The Defense Department had prepared a plan for initially vaccinating at least some U.S. troops and was awaiting White House approval, the official said.
