A parody, all about a critic

Share

A parody of New York Times architecture critic Herbert Muschamp -- titled, “Just as I Expected, These Plans Suck” -- is making its way into the nation’s newsrooms.

The imitation, most of which is too sexually suggestive to print here, paints Muschamp as a petulant, condescending name-dropper. It begins: “Striding down the row of design proposals for the World Trade Center site, balefully eyeing each inert mien and artificially enhanced plan, I was reminded of the scene in ‘Showgirls’ where the choreographer grimly surveys his topless charges.”

The parody concludes with a reference to a scene from “All About Eve” and a promise that “my proposal for the site will be revealed at a time and place of my choosing. Fasten your seat belts, New York.” Muschamp did not return a call requesting comment.
