Patents Should Reward Innovation

Share

I have another take on “Little Gain Seen in Patent Filings,” Oct. 21.

Patents are supposed to reward innovation. But the system rewards patent holders that have the broadest patents and the deepest pockets to protect them.

The situation is so bad that companies are patenting the most obvious, simple ideas, such as motorizing something or adding a computer control. Where’s the innovation in this?
