One Dead, 9 Hurt in Caracas Street Clashes
From Times Wire Reports
One person was killed and at least nine were injured by gunfire when Venezuelan police clashed with supporters of President Hugo Chavez in Caracas, an official of the capital said.
The violence came as the Chavez government and the opposition held a third day of talks to end their political feud over the leftist leader’s rule.
Followers of the president blocked entrances to the office of the mayor, a Chavez foe.
Officers confronted the protesters with tear gas and shotgun pellets. A 23-year-old man was killed.
