8 Cubans Who Reached Key West Are Processed
From Times Wire Reports
Eight Cubans who flew a Soviet-era crop-duster to Key West on Monday were released from detention.
The eight, including a 2-year-old girl, were given routine medical tests and vaccinations.
The group made its flight from the western province of Pinar del Rio, landing at Key West escorted by two Florida National Guard fighter jets.
The group was interviewed and processed according to the 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act, which lets Cubans who reach U.S. soil apply for residency.
