Service Is Planned for Jewish Activist Rubin
From Times Staff Reports
A public funeral will begin at 10 a.m. today for Irv Rubin, the Jewish Defense League chief who died late Wednesday from injuries he sustained while awaiting trial in an alleged plan to bomb a mosque.
The Orthodox service will be held in the chapel at Sholom Memorial Park, 13017 Lopez Canyon Road in Sylmar.
Authorities said Rubin, 57, who had been in jail, attempted suicide, but his widow, Shelley Rubin, has disputed that and is seeking an independent investigation.
