Just call it ‘RVing for Dummies’

In my 40 years of RVing I have never known anyone stupid enough to drive off without knowing how to drive an RV of the size and weight of Rosemary McClure’s rented vehicle (“Bumpy Road of a Novice RVer,” Nov. 10), or how to operate the sinks, toilet and heater.
At the very least, go to an empty parking lot, practice driving and backing up and spend some time checking out your equipment.

I live in my RV -- I’m a “full-timer” -- and am scared to death of people like McClure and her travel partners. Her comment about having to be told to use her outside mirrors is a clue for rental agents to just say no to renting to people like her.
My fellow travelers and I spend a lot of time, energy and money to make sure we are safe and know how to operate our rigs safely. Whenever I see a Cruise America rental I will stay well clear.
