Judge Orders Court Reporters Back to Work
A San Mateo County judge has ordered 16 striking court reporters back to work to cover essential hearings until Nov. 25.
Superior Court Judge Joseph Bergeron’s order came as about 600 court reporters continued their strike Tuesday for higher pay, shutting down two Santa Clara County courthouses again.
Bergeron also ordered both sides in the dispute to keep bargaining. Court officials are offering a 2.5% raise in the first year of a three-year contract with no further raises. Union officials are seeking a 6% annual raise.
