A Big Dose of Reality in Geography Knowledge

More young Americans are familiar with TV’s “Survivor” island than with Afghanistan, Iraq or Israel, a survey found.
Only 17% of young people in the U.S. could find Afghanistan on a world map; 34% knew the island used for the last season of the television show “Survivor” was in the South Pacific.
And although just 30% of young people worldwide could find the Pacific Ocean on a map, 70% in this country could.
