Committee Is Appointed to Find UC President
John Moores, chairman of the University of California Board of Regents, on Friday named a committee to find a successor to UC President Richard Atkinson, who will step down Oct. 1.
The members are San Diego attorney John Davies, chairman; Judith Hopkinson, former chief operating officer of Ameriquest Capital Corp., vice chairwoman; Sherry Lansing, chairwoman of Paramount Pictures; Monica Lozano, president of La Opinion newspaper; and George Marcus, chairman of a commercial real estate and investment firm.
Four regents also will serve: Gov. Gray Davis; student regent Dexter Ligot-Gordon; alumni regent Fred Sainick; and Moores.
