Publicizing a thug

Share

Congratulations on bringing this pro-civil rights, anti-death penalty, anti-three strikes black liberal to a seething state of outrage with your feature on incarcerated rap “artist” Anerae Veshaughn Brown -- a.k.a. X-Raided (“Tied by music and murder,” Nov. 17).

A positive story on an established superstar (Debbie Allen) working to give back to the community by improving children’s lives through dance doesn’t make the cover of the Calendar section, but you have time and space to devote 90 column inches to promoting the career and inane ravings of some two-bit homicidal, remorseless thug.

Because of this individual (I cannot bring myself to refer to him as a brother or a man), Patricia Harris -- a sister, wife, mother and grandmother -- lost her life to senseless gangland violence. Before I cancel my subscription I’d like to see The Times print two more stories on Anerae Veshaughn Brown:

A feature on his transfer to Pelican Bay (where he can’t make any more “music”).

His obituary.
