Tehran Girls Schools Lift the Veil in Classes

About a dozen girls schools in Iran’s capital have allowed students and teachers to remove their veils and long cloaks in class for the first time since 1979, a high school principal said.
Tahereh Ebadi said the Education Ministry approved the change as long as schools put up decorative walls to guard against “lascivious looks” from men.
Ebadi said the idea was tested at her school, Maktab-ol-Ahrar, for several years before being applied to other schools. Ebadi said 80% of students have chosen to go unveiled.
