The Kings may be in line for an early Christmas gift if center Jason Allison’s knee injury continues to heal at the pace it has since he suffered a torn medial collateral ligament and sprained anterior cruciate ligament on Oct. 29.

Allison, who originally was diagnosed to be sidelined eight to 12 weeks, has been skating for nearly a week and went through some light drills with his teammates Friday.

“I feel like I’m ahead of schedule,” Allison said after the Kings’ 2-0 victory over Dallas on Saturday. “I feel good, but I’ll have to wait and see what happens. It still gets swollen and sore, but that’s normal.”

Allison, who is under the supervision of team therapist Robert Zolg, suffered his injury against Atlanta when he hit knee-to-knee with Andy Sutton. In the 12 games Allison has missed, the Kings are 4-4-1-3.

Things are looking up for the Kings, who have a chance to be at full strength before the end of December.

Not only is Allison closer to returning, but the Kings also expect to have winger Adam Deadmarsh back in the lineup against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday after he sat out the last five games because of post-concussion symptoms.

Another good sign for the Kings was Ziggy Palffy’s effort against the Stars on Saturday. Palffy recorded his first two-goal game of the season after struggling for much of the first five weeks of the season because of a groin injury.

“It feels good to be back at home and to win a tough game like this gives you confidence,” Palffy said.

“We know we have to put some points up at home the next few weeks. We have to play smarter and with confidence.”
