* U.S. retail gasoline prices rose 1.8 cents to $1.413 a gallon in the week ended Monday, the Department of Energy reported. Prices were highest on the West Coast, where they fell 0.8 cent to an average of $1.506.

* Overture Services Inc. said it extended its agreement to provide Internet search listings for Microsoft Corp.’s MSN sites for one year, through 2003.

* Idec Pharmaceuticals Corp. Chief Financial Officer Phillip Schneider will retire next month after 15 years with the San Diego biopharmaceutical company. He is leaving the company to spend more time with his family and pursue education-related issues, the company said. Idec Controller Edward Rodriguez will assume Schneider’s duties until a successor is named.

* Sprint Corp.’s PCS Group said Len Lauer will replace President Charles Levine, who is retiring a week after the mobile-phone company said it will have its first quarterly loss of customers. Lauer, 45, is president of Sprint PCS’ global markets group.

* UAL Corp., parent of United Airlines, said it has suspended the payment of dividends on its Series B Preferred Stock to conserve cash and address its liquidity crunch.

* The British government said it would order as many as 150 of Lockheed Martin Corp.’s short-takeoff, vertical-landing versions of the Joint Strike Fighter. The order could be worth as much as $15.7 billion.
