The number of people in California without health insurance has remained steady over the past three years, but the state still has one of the highest rates in the U.S., according to the Census Bureau.

California’s uninsured average over the last three years was 19.2%, third highest behind New Mexico and Texas.

The California figure represents about 6.6 million people and showed no measurable change from the previous three-year average, the Census Bureau said.
