SEC Probes Meetings at Schering-Plough

Schering-Plough Corp. said the Securities and Exchange Commission is asking for information regarding the drug maker’s meetings with investors and other communication last week.

The company said it believes that it has complied with all securities laws and that it’s cooperating with the SEC request.

Schering-Plough released earnings projections Thursday after Chief Executive Richard Kogan told a meeting of analysts that 2003 profit would be disappointing.

The firm’s shares had fallen for five days before the announcement. They rose 50 cents to $17.80 on the New York Stock Exchange.
