From Times Wire Reports

The Tuolumne Band of Mewuk Indians plans to expand its rancheria in the Sierra Nevada and build a new casino.

In March, the tribe bought a 350-acre site formerly owned by the West Side Lumber Co. The tribe plans a 121-lot residential development with an 18-hole golf course, hotel and conference center and other businesses for the parcel.

An official said the development will allow Mewuks who are eligible to live there, or those forced to leave as adults, to have a home. The 300-acre rancheria north of Tuolumne City has 160 residents living in about 45 homes.
