FIRST INNING

ANGELS: Angels 1, Twins 0--David Eckstein grounded to the pitcher. Darin Erstad homered to right. That quieted the Metrodome crowd. Too bad it didn’t quiet Steve Lyons. Tim Salmon flied to center. Garret Anderson grounded to second. Anderson jogged to first base. Didn’t he learn his lesson in the Yankee series? One run, one hit, none left.

TWINS: Angels 1, Twins 0--Tim Salmon made a nice running catch on Jacque Jones’ fly ball to right. Cristian Guzman grounded to first. Corey Koskie walked. David Ortiz, professional hitter, grounded to second. No runs, no hits, one left.

SECOND INNING

ANGELS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Troy Glaus singled to right. Brad Fullmer doubled to right-center, Glaus to third. Scott Spiezio hit a high pop down the right-field line for a double that landed fair just in front of Michael Cuddyer and bounced over his head. How about that Metrodome turf? Glaus scored, Fullmer stopped at third. Bengie Molina flied to shallow right, the runners holding. Adam Kennedy grounded to the pitcher, Fullmer was tagged out in a rundown between third and home. Spiezio took third. Kennedy was picked off first and caught in a rundown, but first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz threw home to try to get Spiezio, who was safe, his knee knocking the ball out of the catcher’s glove. Kennedy took third on the play. Eckstein singled to right, Kennedy scoring. Erstad flied to center. Three runs, four hits, one left.

TWINS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Salmon made another nice running catch on Torii Hunter’s fly to right. Mientkiewicz grounded to first. Cuddyer hit a grounder to the hole between short and third. Eckstein almost dislocated his shoulder trying to throw him out, but Cuddyer was safe at first. A.J. Pierzynski struck out swinging. No runs, one hit, one left.

THIRD INNING

ANGELS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Salmon flied to right, but he pulled a hamstring running it out and would leave the game. Anderson flied to center. Glaus grounded to short. No runs, no hits.

TWINS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Orlando Palmeiro in right field. Luis Rivas singled up the middle. Rivas was picked off first. Swiper no swiping! Swiper no swiping! Jones struck out swinging. Guzman hit a slow bleeder to third that Glaus was unable to come up with. Koskie hit a shot to first, but Spiezio made a nice diving grab and ran to first for the out. No runs, two hits, one left.

FOURTH INNING

ANGELS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Fullmer grounded to first. Spiezio lined a single to center. With Spiezio going on the pitch, Molina grounded to short, Spiezio to second. Kennedy flied to right. No runs, one hit, one left.

TWINS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Ortiz singled to right. Hunter grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. Mientkiewicz (Vanna White’s favorite player) singled to center. Cuddyer flied to center. No runs, two hits, one left.

FIFTH INNING

ANGELS: Angels 4, Twins 0--It all makes sense now. “24” is not only the name of the show starring Kiefer Sutherland, it’s also the number of times per inning that Fox shows commercials for it. Eckstein flied to right. Erstad flied to center. Palmeiro flied to left. No runs, no hits.

TWINS: Angels 4, Twins 0--Pierzynski singled to center. Rivas grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. Jones grounded to first. No runs, no hits.

SIXTH INNING

ANGELS: Angels 6, Twins 0--Anderson grounded to second, Rivas making a nice jump and throw to beat Anderson by a step. Anderson was running hard on this play. Judging by the Fox “Sounds of the Game,” Angel pitching coach Bud Black doesn’t know the name of his own pitchers. He refers to everyone as “Hey!” Glaus tripled to right. Right fielder Cuddyer makes Billy Ashley look graceful. Fullmer homered to right-center. Metrodome fans are booing. They should be happy they have a team. Johan Santana pitching. Spiezio flied to right. Molina struck out swinging but reached first when the ball got by Pierzynski for a wild pitch. Kennedy grounded to first. Two runs, two hits, one left.

TWINS: Angels 6, Twins 3--Guzman doubled to right-center. Koskie singled to right, Guzman scored. The Metrodome crowd has decided to support their team again. Ortiz took a called strike three. Hunter doubled off Eckstein’s glove, Koskie to third. Mientkiewicz lined a single up the middle, both runners scored. Brendan Donnelly pitching. Cuddyer struck out swinging. He looks like Billy Ashley at the plate too. Pierzynski lined to second. Three runs, four hits, one left.

SEVENTH INNING

ANGELS: Angels 6, Twins 3--Eckstein struck out. Erstad grounded to the pitcher. Alex Ochoa, batting for Palmeiro, struck out swinging. No runs, no hits.

TWINS: Angels 6, Twins 3--Francisco Rodriguez pitching. Rivas struck out swinging. Jones flied to left. Guzman took a called strike three. No runs, no hits.

EIGHTH INNING

ANGELS: Angels 6, Twins 3--J.C. Romero pitching. Anderson grounded to second. Glaus walked. Shawn Wooten was announced for Fullmer. LaTroy Hawkins replaced Romero. Wooten struck out swinging. Spiezio flied to left. No runs, no hits, one left.

ANGELS: Angels 6, Twins 3--Mike Jackson pitching. Molina popped out to short center. Kennedy struck out. Eckstein blooped a single to right. Erstad singled to right-center, Eckstein to third. The Metrodome crowd is so quiet, you can hear crickets. Ochoa struck out swinging. No runs, two hits, two left.

TWINS: Angels 6, Twins 3--Pierzynski grounded to short. Dustan Mohr hit for Rivas and struck out swinging. Jones struck out swinging. No runs, no hits.
