The Los Angeles Times begins a series of changes in the content and design of several of its sections.

Sunday: Sunday Calendar appears as a full-size, two-part section. Part I focuses on movies, television and style. Part II covers the performing and visual arts. The section will include new features, including Media Matters, a column by David Shaw, and Connections, a column by Reed Johnson that will pull together the big picture of popular culture and the arts. New typography created for The Times will be introduced.

Monday: A faster-paced Calendar is expanded to include the Southern California Living section, adding style, fashion and lifestyle to its arts and entertainment report. Among the new features will be New York, N.Y. by Geraldine Baum, and L.A.-centric, Mary McNamara’s quirky take on Southern California.
