Fair-Trade Coffee

Share

We were discouraged to learn from “Coffee’s Bitter Harvest” (Oct. 5) what a small fraction of coffee consumed in this country (less than 0.2%) is “fair trade,” meaning that the coffee farmer is guaranteed a payment that provides a livable income.

Your readers may like to know that they can easily have fair-trade coffee shipped to them by one of a number of firms, many of which are listed on the Web at www.fair tradefederation.com. Not included in that listing is a firm in Montana from which we ourselves order fair-trade coffee: www.coffeetraders.com.
