Stealing home to Robin Hood’s Bay

Share

It was fabulous to open the paper and see my part of the world in “Yorkshire: Misty Moors and a Shady History” (Sept. 29). I was born in North Yorkshire and still have family there.

Author Nancy Baird forgot to mention that Bram Stoker was inspired to write “Dracula” while living there and visiting the ancient graveyard.

I have heard one theory about how Robin Hood’s Bay was named, but I don’t know if there is any truth in it: When King Richard was away fighting the Crusades, Prince John took the throne and swore to hunt down Robin Hood. Robin Hood kept boats there for a quick getaway.
