Take an Honest Look at Mexico’s Economy
In his Oct. 12 letter on the “Enrique’s Journey” series, Cardinal Roger Mahony once again encourages illegal immigration to the U.S. He cites the poor economic conditions in Mexico. Much of Mexico’s poor condition is caused by corruption and bribery, etc. Mexico is a largely Catholic country, but I have never heard Catholic spiritual leaders address the issues of corruption, bribery and dishonest business ethics that hold down Mexico’s economy. President Vicente Fox has been trying to address these issues. The Catholic hierarchy’s failure to address the spiritual causes of poor economic conditions will ensure the pain and suffering of millions of Enriques for many years to come.
By the way, I attend Catholic church every Sunday.
