O.C. Carpool Lanes Busiest in the State

Orange County’s carpool lanes are used by an average of 1,568 vehicles per hour during peak times, more than any other carpool system in the state, according to an Orange County Transportation Authority study.
By comparison, Los Angeles County’s carpool lanes carry 1,013 vehicles an hour during peak times, while the Bay Area reported 930 vehicles an hour.
The study also found that carpool lanes in the county operate at near capacity throughout the day.
