A look at some classic moments in World Series Game 2 history:

1959 -- With the Dodgers trailing, 2-1, in the seventh inning, pinch-hitter Chuck Essegian hit a tying home run to left, Jim Gilliam walked and Charlie Neal, who had hit a bases-empty homer in the fifth, followed with a two-run homer to center, propelling L.A. to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

1978 -- Ron Cey drove in all four Dodger runs in a 4-3 victory over the Yankees with an RBI single and a three-run homer, and Bob Welch, pitching in relief, struck out Reggie Jackson on a 3-2 pitch for the final out after an epic battle.

1986 -- The Boston Red Sox took a 2-0 lead in the World Series with 9-3 rout of the New York Mets. The Red Sox had 18 hits and battered Dwight Gooden for six runs in five innings.

1991 -- A game won by Minnesota, 3-2, on rookie Scott Leius’ tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning might best be remembered for a play at first base in the third inning, when Twin first baseman Kent Hrbek took a pickoff throw and appeared to lift Atlanta’s Ron Gant off the bag. Umpire Drew Coble ruled Gant’s momentum carried him off the bag and called him out.
