Fountain Valley Teen Dies of Gunshot Wounds

Detectives from Santa Ana’s gang unit are investigating the shooting death of a Fountain Valley teenager.
Matthew Maldonado, 16, was shot multiple times in the torso Friday about 7:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 17th Street. He died at UCI Medical Center.
Police say Maldonado was shot after a dispute with the killer, who fled in a vehicle. No other information was available Saturday.
