2 Priests Disciplined for Silence About Suspect
Two priests have been disciplined for not telling the Bridgeport Roman Catholic Diocese they knew the whereabouts of a former clergyman accused of sex abuse.
Father David Howell of Norwalk and Father Gerald Devore of Stamford admitted they knew former priest Laurence Brett was living on the Caribbean island of St. Martin, the diocese said in a statement.
Brett, 65, has been accused of abusing two dozen children in Connecticut, New Mexico, California and Maryland. He disappeared in 1993; he was found recently on St. Martin by newspaper reporters.
