Story of Ill Gardener Was Beautifully Told

Share

I would like to commend Thomas Curwen for his story about Mary Lou Heard, her life and her nursery (“She Sowed, and Reaped Life’s Lessons,” Aug 19). He wrote elegantly and compassionately about a woman who brings the mystery of fragile nature and fragile attitude into all our lives. I suffer from a terminal disease and find great joy in tending my tiny garden. I was moved to tears when I read the story. I am inspired by her words, “We are not called upon to think about how close to death we are, but rather to consider the gifts that have been given to us.”

Again I am reminded that life holds more beauty than fiction.
