Sonicblue to Cut Staff, Consolidate Units

Sonicblue Inc., the money-losing maker of Rio digital audio players, said it’s cutting about 25% of its staff and consolidating business units.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Sonicblue, which has posted net losses for nine straight quarters, had 350 to 400 employees before the job cuts. It’s consolidating units in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Tigard, Ore., into a Santa Clara facility by the end of the year.
