Peace activists and church groups plan a human chain Sunday that they hope will stretch from California 101 in San Rafael to the Hub in San Anselmo.

Organizers expect 2,000 or more people to show up to take part in the event, which is being called “Marin Stands for Peace.”

The event is a statement opposing a proposed attack on Iraq and is a memorial to victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, leaders said.

“We are trying to prevent a nuclear war,” said co-organizer Gwendolyn Anderson, who was two blocks from the World Trade Center during the terror attacks last September.
