Simi Police Seek Suspected Child Molester
Simi Valley police are looking for a suspected child molester who twice tried to lure youngsters into his vehicle, authorities said Saturday.
The first incident involved a 4-year-old boy whom the man approached in the bathroom at the Easy Street Ice Rink on Aug. 15. Police say the man tried to lure the boy to his car by promising him candy.
The boy’s mother overheard, ran into the bathroom and retrieved her son, police said.
A man with a similar description was spotted two days later in the 1800 block of Church Street, where he attempted to entice a 13-year-old girl into his vehicle, police said. The girl refused to go with the man, who fled the area.
Police describe the suspect as Latino, between 20 and 28, 5 feet 10 to 6 feet tall, about 170 pounds and with short, spiked black or brown hair.
He was driving a late-model beige SUV, such as a Chevy Blazer or a Toyota 4-Runner. Authorities drafted a composite sketch of the man based on interviews with witnesses.
