Tuesday: The Santa Clara Valley Democratic Club will meet at 6 p.m. at Los Compadres Restaurant, 650 W. Harvard Blvd., Santa Paula. Steve Cummings of the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee will give a party update, and Mike Miller of Santa Paula will discuss the “No on F” campaign. Tuesday: The Greater Oxnard Organization of Democrats has invited Democrats in several local races to a 7:15 p.m. session at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3935, 300 S. Surfside Drive, Port Hueneme. Those expected to attend include Art Hernandez, Ron Segovia Dyste and Deshay D. Ford, candidates for the community college board; Albert G. Duff Sr., Andres Herrera, Martin Jones and Saul Medina, candidates for Oxnard City Council, and Helen McPherson, Maricela Morales and Jon Sharkey, candidates for Port Hueneme City Council. Thursday: Ventura City Councilman Brian Brennan will discuss his opposition to Measure A, which calls for construction of nearly 1,400 homes north of the city, during a 7:30 p.m. meeting of Ventura Citizens for Hillside Preservation at the parish hall of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 3290 Loma Vista Road. Sept. 26: The Ventura Chamber of Commerce’s Political Action Committee has invited candidates in the 23rd District congressional race, a seat now held by Lois Capps (D--Santa Barbara), and the 35th District Assembly race, a seat held by Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara).
