World War II Mine Kills Five Boys
Five boys were killed when they apparently tried to dismantle a World War II mine they found at the site of the battle of Stalingrad, Russian police said.
A police spokesman in Volgograd said the five--ages 6 to 9--went to play in a ravine just outside the city Thursday and never returned. Parents heard an explosion but did not pay attention, he said. They sounded the alarm when the boys failed to come home.
A search party found the five bodies scattered around a crater with bits of the mine strewn nearby, the spokesman said.
