Man Fired for Medical Pot Use Sues Company
A man fired for using doctor-prescribed marijuana is suing his former employer. Gary Ross, 40, wants more than $100,000 in damages from RagingWire Telecommunications Inc., the suit said.
Ross, who uses marijuana for a disabling back injury, says he provided officials with a copy of his physician’s prescription before taking a drug test for employment.
The company’s lawyer said in a statement that executives stand by their decision to fire Ross. Shortly after being hired, Ross alleges, the board of directors met to discuss Ross’ marijuana use, and he was subsequently discharged.
