It’s Like Old Times for Treece, Schvaneveldt
Two old pros, trainers Charlie Treece and Blane Schvaneveldt, will saddle two old rivals in tonight’s $12,850 allowance at 350 yards in the eighth race--Panther Mountain and Mi Gamboling Bug, both in the twilight of their careers.
The eighth has several others with good credentials, one of them Winner Wants Cash, a multiple stakes finalist who finished fourth in the Golden State Derby.
The picks: 1. Im A Pritzi Boy. 2. Frolic’s Flash. 3. Shagin Dash. 4. Bacbac Overthewall. 5. Snowy Substance. 6. Absolutely Yours. 7. Corona Del Cielo. 8. Panther Mountain. 9. Watch This Injun.
Late four: Absolutely Yours is after his third Arabian win in a row in the sixth. Use Corona Del Cielo and Red Hot Blitzer in the seventh, Panther Mountain, Winner Wants Cash and Mi Gamboling Bug in the eighth, and Watch This Injun and Nasty Grin in the ninth. Total cost: $12.
Shots in the dark: In the first, Royal Snow Bunny lagged in her last outing but finished in the money twice before. In the ninth, Vels Silent Charger breaks from Post 9.
