Jewelry Thieves Kill 89-Year-Old Bride-to-Be
Two assailants killed a recently engaged 89-year-old Egyptian woman and stole the jewelry her fiance gave her, police said.
Police found Hekmat Hanna with her neck slashed in her apartment in Shoubra, a low-income district of Cairo.
Her fiance, George Demyan, also 89, had given the jewelry, worth about $3,000, to Hanna at their engagement party, police said.
The Coptic Christian couple were to be married in October. It was to be Hanna’s first marriage.
